 Qualified candidates may reside in a remote home office in the East US territory (North or South).  Additional regions in the USA will be considered for highly qualified candidates that are open to periodic travel (when it is safe to do so). 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The 3Degrees Energy & Climate Practice helps organizations reduce their greenhouse gas emissions worldwide through renewable energy and decarbonized transportation solutions. Our clients include some of the largest and most respected companies on the planet, as well as educational institutions and other non-profits.  

3Degrees is large enough to make a huge difference in the world, and small enough that YOU can make a huge difference here.  The Manager is a vital contributor to our Energy & Climate Practice team, the consulting team at 3Degrees.  The position plays a critical role in supporting client engagements through the management of projects and the direct execution of client work.  

3Degrees’ consulting projects focus on envisioning and implementing renewable energy and climate solutions for large organizations. Our work focuses on reducing emissions of energy supplies - both electricity and thermal - and enabling growing organizations to adopt these solutions within robust sustainability programs.  

This position may be located in our Portland OR, Seattle WA or Richmond, VA offices.  For the right candidate, this position can be performed remotely anywhere in the USA.

  • Leads project, mentors consultants

  • Puts the overall plan together, identifies tasks, deliverables, resources the work based on the client’s value proposition

  • Responsible for the work deliverables to get done and done well, including proactive scoping of delivery, issues and solutions and timely delivery to meet/exceed client expectations

  • Accountable for value, quality, accuracy, client expectations and deliverables under their control

  • Play a visible role in representing 3Degrees in industry forums; 

  • Builds subject matter expertise within the team; shares knowledge with team 

Business Development and Innovation: We support the team’s revenue goals and commit to scaling our core offerings (Transactions, Options Assessment, et al) to meet and anticipate client needs.

  • Lead business development opportunities which include developing presentations, draft pricing and proposal structures

  • Successfully create sales tools with relevant, accurate, insightful and attractive content through collaboration with sales and marketing teams including case studies and blog posts

  • Able to draw business insights from data and interpret client needs to offer additional solutions  

Team Collaboration: We shepherd and deliver cross-team wins, communicate clearly and openly about expectations and experiences, drive efficiency and process improvement for everyone's benefit.

  • Participates in collaboration with others and contributes ideas and content to conversations

  • Leads process and efficiency improvements

  • Communicates upward across and outwards clearly and with detail

  • Executes, through a team, on deliverables with an eye to client problem solving and project goals 

 WHAT WE’LL NEED FROM YOU 

  • You have prior consulting experience, MBA preferred

  • It’s difficult to be successful here without an analytic mindset and enjoys solving complex problems for clients. 

  • At least 4- 6 years direct work experience in renewable energy and sustainability across multiple domains (e.g. countries, ISOs, RE100, GHGProtocol, etc.). Alternatively, we may consider expertise in other environmental domains if it comes alongside considerable experience as a manager on a consulting team.

  • Prior experience supporting client relationships and those clients’ relationships with stakeholders such as company decision-makers, vendors, technical agencies, and the public.

  • Experience in the corporate energy supply field, renewable energy and/or transportation and/or climate mitigation strategies for corporations, which may include power purchase agreements, corporate sustainability advocacy and positioning, rulesets governing environmental disclosure, and retail electricity procurement.

  • Experience executing environmental program strategies, including tasks such as obtaining budget and decision-maker approvals, reviewing and negotiating contracts, solving problems with few resources, educating stakeholders.

  • A passion for serving client needs; joy in other peoples’ success; empathy and superior listening skills.

  • Microsoft Excel mastery and ability to establish spreadsheet design principles for client deliverables; envision tools needed for clients at a level of detail which can be implemented by others.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience making presentations to external clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Versatility and ability to be agile in an ambiguous environment.
