General Description 

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Senior Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst plays a crucial role on our team by producing detailed financial reports, models, forecasts and ad hoc analyses that help us monitor performance against our current strategic plan and that assist leadership in developing new long-term strategic plans.  The position establishes and maintains strong working relationships with senior leaders across the organization in order to assist them in formulating and monitoring revenue and spend plans, and to understand how their plans may impact our financial outlook.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work across teams and with the VP of Finance to support the organization’s annual budget development process. This includes working with senior leaders to gather historic data, working with our information systems to create templates to facilitate the collection of planning data, and modelling the financial impact of various strategic scenarios.
  • Lead the continuous process of creating forecasts and updating our financial plans on a rolling basis by partnering with budget owners and the VP of Finance.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and modelling, including return on investment analyses, as needed to facilitate strategic decision making.
  • Prepare budgets and reports to support grant proposals and requirements.
  • Create and maintain financial reports and dashboards by gathering data across the organization and presenting them in an accessible manner.
  • Maintain and own the organization’s financial planning and reporting application (Adaptive Insights) including training new and existing users.
  • Prepare presentations for the VP of Finance, the executive team and for Governing Council.
  • Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience, Competencies, and Education

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial analysis or business intelligence role
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel with a working knowledge of basic database structure, queries and reporting
  • Track record working successfully in teams representing a rich mix of talent, backgrounds, and perspectives—across race and gender. 
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate and present complex financial data in a concise, accessible manner
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and self-motivation, with a passion for continuous improvement and learning
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work across the organization with individuals of various identities, abilities, and levels of seniority.
