The Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District is currently seeking an Environmental Health Specialist Senior. This position will be responsible for interpreting and applying environmental laws, regulations, policies and procedures in order to determine compliance and reduce risks to the public's health. In addition, primary responsibilities will include: performing periodic sanitary inspections of food services for the Food Safety Program (documenting violations and recommending corrective action), inspecting and permitting migrant labor camps, tourist establishments (including TES pools) and temporary food booths at festivals and fairs, investigating animal bites following established guidelines for confinement and quarantine of animals or testing for rabies and investigating/documenting public health complaints and enforcing compliance with regulations (sewage, food-borne illnesses, water). As well as, onsite sewage, alternative discharge and water services programs (private septic system permitting and inspections, data entry/evaluation of operation and maintenance reports, pump and haul inspections, discharge inspections, private well permitting and inspections).
