These positions will assist with general farming and haying operations for the center, and data collection associated with forage studies. These positions will work on numerous forage research projects involving alfalfa studies and cover crop trials. This job will include but are not limited to, preparing fields for seeding and harvesting, all components of a haying operation, plot preparation, laboratory work and sample preparation for data entry. This position is a 40+ hour/week position with the opportunity to work overtime with appropriate compensation. Some night and weekend work may be required.
About Central Grasslands Research Extension Center:
Central Grasslands Research Extension Center is located in south central North Dakota in the Missouri Coteau. The Center has 10 full-time research scientists and staff studying areas including Range Science, Forage Agronomy and Animal Science. Central Grasslands Research Extension Center was created to address the following research priorities areas: 1) range ecology and grazing management; 2) forage systems; 3) livestock nutrition; and 4) livestock reproductive efficiency. To accomplish these objectives, the Center manages approximately 1300 beef animals yearly, including 450 to 500 breeding females. The land base for these operations includes 5335 acres, of which the majority is native and improved pasture.
