The Environmental, Health and Safety team is seeking a team is seeking an Experienced Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join the team in Renton, Washington. As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist, you will join the 737 Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team supporting 737 Airplane Program operations, principally in Renton, North Boeing Field (Seattle). The 737 EHS team works in multiple environmental disciplines (for example, air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, solid waste, industrial wastewater, spill prevention, and underground storage tanks), and supports conservation/sustainability initiatives as well as regulatory compliance.

This position will require regular (up to 25%) local travel to support program operations at Renton, North Boeing Field (Seattle), and nearby sites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor management systems, processes and programs in one or more environmental disciplines, with a focus on supporting our industrial wastewater treatment programs. 

  • Work with multiple organizations to ensure that operations at 737 Program sites meet or exceed regulatory and company standards.

  • Assess the impact of emerging environmental issues and requirements on company operations, and support effective long-range planning.

  • Act as a primary site interface with local and state regulatory agencies.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
  • 5+ years in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
  • 5 + years of experience managing and maintaining environmental programs, such as, industrial wastewater, air quality management, hazardous waste, stormwater or oil spill prevention.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in industrial waste water management strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Title V or Hazardous Waste Management.
  • 1+ years preparing reports and maintaining data.
  • Storm water program management experience.
  • Spill, Prevention, Control, & Countermeasure (SPCC) experience.

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
