Currently, HydroGeoLogic Inc. (HGL) has a position open for an Assistant Scientist in the Ballston Lake, NY area to support HGL’s growing business associated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contracts. HGL, is an industry leader with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive environmental engineering services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address today’s environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal and state government clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of environmental field tasks and related office work. Field tasks will include conducting environmental investigations, installing and/or operating environmental remediation systems, and collecting environmental samples as a member of a project team. Office tasks will include analyzing data, generating data tables, developing project maps and figures, and writing technical reports.
Must demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation and creativity. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. Must also be willing to participate in all project tasks including but not limited to fieldwork, data analysis and report preparation. Proficient in MS Office Suite and other MS Office applications.
This is an entry-level position and generally requires 0-2 years of related work experience. Those applying directly out of college must be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position. The successful candidate shall be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, responsible, professionally driven, and able to interact and participate in a team setting. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Must be willing to conduct local fieldwork, fieldwork requiring overnight travel, and office tasks.
While this is an entry-level position, the following experience is a plus:
The Assistant Scientist position requires a minimum of a BS or BA degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Biology or Chemistry.
