We are currently seeking an Associate Environmental Planner to support a variety of projects in a dynamic environmental consulting environment in our experienced energy practice. This practice includes routing, siting, and permitting of fossil fuel, wind, and solar electric power generation, electric transmission lines and substations, natural gas pipelines, compressor stations, and other related facilities.

 Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Environmental Planner will support Project Managers with energy facility siting, permitting, task coordination, public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking

  • Assist the senior staff with preparing and producing permit documents and permit applications for federal, state, local agencies and jurisdictions

  • Organizational support for project team and public meetings, including developing schedules, sending notifications, drafting agendas, and taking and distributing notes

  • Research and documentation for planning initiatives and development of project permitting

  • Support the development of environmental studies and resource analysis

  • Under direct supervision, assist in the development of public outreach materials to support infrastructure development projects such as natural gas pipelines and electric transmission lines or substations

  • Research and compile public and stakeholder information for aiding public outreach materials development

  • Support and assist with the coordination of project logistics and work with other team members to facilitate project meetings, stakeholder outreach, public meetings, tracking and recording stakeholder contacts and project-related issues

  • Attend and coordinate meetings, including preparation of presentation materials

  • Assist in developing design, content, and updates for project websites

  • Explain complex technical concepts in simple terms for several audiences

 Candidate will support the development including, but not limited, to the following:

  • Land use permit applications
  • Critical Issues Analysis reports
  • Environmental analysis documentation
  • Siting & routing studies
  • Public outreach materials such as strategic communication plans, stakeholder databases, fact sheets, newsletters, brochures, website development, meeting displays, postcards, door hangers, media releases

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as planning, environmental studies

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated work experience performing similar tasks

  • Competency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud desired
  • The Associate Environmental Planner should have demonstrated writing abilities, organizational skills, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office)

  • Possess the ability to act independently with task management roles, have a strong attention to detail, and a proven commitment to quality management, continuous improvement and client satisfaction

  • The ability to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team are important characteristics for this position

  • Ability and interest in working as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment with the capability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

  • Willingness and ability to travel is also required

  • Spanish speaking is a plus
