Job Description

What We're Looking For

Environmental Planner in our New York office focused on transportation-based projects throughout NY, NJ and CT. This may involve, bridge, highway and rail transit projects. The successful candidate will provide technical analyses and written documentation for topics such as land use, community facilities, natural resources, demographics etc. for NEPA (with a particular focus on US DOT), SEQR/CEQR, EO215 compliance. The position has a strong focus on preparing environmental permitting applications, stakeholder outreach, and drafting and writing technical documents.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • May assist in leading small-scale planning tasks and portions of larger projects.

  • Coordinates with sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks. Some contact with clients.

  • Prepares technical plans and reports, written reports on small to medium-sized planning projects.

  • Final production of environmental documents and reports, graphics associated with public meetings, presentation drawings, etc.

  • Conducts research and detailed analysis of data.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Planning or related field

  • 2 years of related experience

  • RLA, RA, PE registration or AICP, CEP certification

  • Assists in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects from concept development through submission drawings.

  • Coordinates with sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks. Some contact with clients.

  • Prepares technical plans and reports, written reports on small to medium-sized planning projects, scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to Request for Proposals.

  • Final production of environmental documents, comprehensive plans and reports, graphics associated with public meetings, presentation drawings, reports, etc.

  • Conducts research and detailed analysis of data.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Science or relevant field

  • 2 years of relevant experience
