Plant Healthcare Technician | Arborguard Atlanta, A Davey Company

 


SUMMARY:

Plant Health Care Technicians (PHC Techs) performs all functions of the Integrated Pest Management Program, including administration, scheduling, inspections, treatments, equipment maintenance, record keeping, and customer relations. Professionalism and customer service is a key element of the position, as well as routing, product mixing and application. Participating in consulting work such as tree inventory projects is also required.  Tree and shrub ID, Pathology, and knowledge of tree physiology are valuable but not required.  Experience in related fields of work (pest control, exterminator) or outdoor work experience (landscaping, lawn care, yard care, mowing, gardener, weed control, maintenance) is desirable.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose insect, disease, and cultural/environmental conditions.
  • Evaluate and recommended treatment options.
  • Ensure proper filling/mixing procedures and material dilution are followed.
  • Understand and operate state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Learn/understand insect & disease life cycles, plant biology, and soil biology.
  • Perform accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Maintain a safe and controlled work environment.
  • Adhere to company safety, state and local regulations.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain open communication with consulting Arborists and clients to provide feedback on plant health care issues.
  • Conduct consulting work such as tree inventories and tree risk assessment as appropriate

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two or Four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture or related discipline is a plus, but not required
  • Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority
  • Ability to identify local tree and shrub species
  • Familiarity with soil science and horticulture is a plus, but not required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Class A or B CDL-Air is a plus
  • ISA Certified Arborist is a plus
  • Related previous experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Specific task training provided
