Job Summary

The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking an experienced environmental consulting professional for immediate employment with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management Department in the Germantown, MD office. The Germantown EHS Department provides environmental compliance and due diligence services to federal, municipal, and private-sector clients, nationwide. For this position, we are specifically seeking someone with experience managing and executing environmental due diligence (Phase I/II ESAs) and subsurface investigation projects. The successful candidate will be able to maintain and develop client relationships, help mentor and develop junior staff, and contribute to achieving the Environmental Business Line's financial goals. Contacts with federal and private sector clients, as well as coordination with other consultants, in the context of both ongoing projects and business development efforts, will also be a significant part of the work. The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated task/project management skills (i.e., developing proposals/cost estimates, managing clients and projects, managing project teams).

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities

  • Effectively managing projects from proposal development through completion including tracking and controlling scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Supporting business development efforts, including the preparation of technical and cost proposals

  • Acting independently on technical matters pertaining to environmental due diligence/subsurface investigations.

  • Leading a project team of scientists, engineers, and subcontractors.

  • Preparing or overseeing the preparation of technical reports, plans, and permitting documents.

  • Interacting with local regulatory agencies and clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant environmental discipline

  • 4+ years of environmental experience related to Environmental Due Diligence/Phase I and II site investigations (must qualify as an ASTM 1527-13 Environmental Professional); experience with environmental compliance and permitting is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-10 years experience preferred
