Exponent has over 800 consultants, including more than 500 that have earned a doctorate in their chosen field of specialization.

We are currently seeking a Scientist for our Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice, located in our Maynard, MA office who is a creative problem solver with a robust technical background in biology, ecology, toxicology, and statistics/data analytics. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in one of the above listed fields with formal experience/training in each of the other areas. Areas of experience/training in addition to these fields are welcome. The successful candidate will also have proven experience communicating with a non-scientific audience, through both written and verbal communications.

Job duties may include document review, data management, statistical data analysis, written communications preparation, and field work, among others. The successful candidate will display confidence and initiative in developing novel approaches to answering complex scientific questions and have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Interested candidates should provide a 1-2 page cover letter (double spaced, 12 point font maximum) describing how they have applied a creative solution to a scientific problem they have addressed. Candidates invited to formally interview would then be asked to discuss and present that approach and the results at the formal interview. The cover letter must also list the field of science in which the candidate’s doctoral degree was completed and experience in each of the other required fields of science (biology, ecology, toxicology, statistics/data analytics).

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Toxicology, Statistics/Data Analytics or other related field.
  • Experience in organizing and coordinating tasks and/or projects of moderate scope and complexity
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in being part of multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel for work related activities 
  • Ability to work well within a fast paced, multidisciplinary team environment
