Freese and Nichols’ is currently searching for a project manager-level ecologist forour growing Oklahoma Division (Oklahoma City or Tulsa office). The position will require the ability to conduct biological field surveys and prepare environmental permit applications and documents required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for public and private sector clients involving transportation, water, and energy infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

Freese and Nichols is a regionally based, client focused consulting firm with national level expertise. This position will work closely with our engineers, construction management and planning staff in Oklahoma to serve clients in the region. FNI is currently working with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Oklahoma Water Resources Board, Oklahoma County and numerous cities across the state.   • Requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an applicable field

Applicants should have at least 5 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following:

  • Jurisdictional water determinations and wetland delineations.
  • Preparation of environmental clearance documents including Categorical Exclusions and Environmental Assessments as a consultant to ODOT or other state transportation agencies. Experience in the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements is not required, but would be considered a plus.
  • Preparation of documentation required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for permit applications required under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
  • Preparation of mitigation plans and/or mitigation site compliance monitoring and reporting related to Section 404.
  • Noise modeling and impact assessment for transportation projects.

This position will require strong writing and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and within a team environment, data management, processing, and interpretation skills, and the ability to interface effectively with clients. The ability to utilize Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point is required. Familiarity with ArcGIS software is also desired.

The candidate must be willing to travel, with overnight travel common. Travel may be required up to 35% of the time.

A valid Oklahoma driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen is required.
