Responsible for the implementation of occupational safety, health, and environmental processes. Implements, measures, and evaluates regional performance and programs which maximize EHS objectives. Implements programs designed to ensure conformance to applicable federal, state, local standards related to environmental compliance, occupational health and safety (I.e. OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, etc.). Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by administering health and safety programs designed to reduce the risk of occupational injury, vehicle incidents, minimize business disruption, and damage of property. Deliver training to ensure knowledge of applicable standards and regulatory requirements, as well as safe driving and work habits.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the implementation of EHS programs designed to control, eliminate, and prevent occupational vehicle crashes, disease and/or injury caused by physical, chemical, biological agents or ergonomic factors.
Perform ergonomic evaluations and training in order to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.
Design and implement facility emergency evacuation plans as well as performing annual facility evacuation drills.
Promote, administer, and deliver safety and health related training to all departments' in compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA, DOT, and EPA rules and regulations. This includes developing curriculum, scheduling sessions and evaluating student performance.
Provide technical support to front line leadership on matters related to occupational safety, environmental compliance, and loss prevention.
Support the periodic observations of field employees for detecting possible safety violations and/or compliance (safety audits, ladder inspections, vehicle inspections etc.) In partnership with Facilities and Operations Leadership, also supports the periodic inspections of Comcast facilities to detect potential hazards or environmental compliance issues (i.e. GAP audits, loss prevention, ergonomics, recycling, etc.) Enforce adherence to laws, regulations and Comcast standards governing occupational safety and environmental compliance.
Assist with the collection and submission of data required to satisfy environmental permit and reporting requirements (i.e. Air Permit reports, Tier II, SPCC etc.).
Assist in the preparation of required compliance reports and loss analysis for use by Comcast personnel and regulatory agencies.
Develops and manages initiatives to promote a productive safety and compliance culture, including programs designed to increase employee involvement, education, and recognition.
Collects and interprets injury and vehicle crash data to identify trends and/or causal factors, such as system failure, human error, incomplete or faulty decision-making, or a weakness in existing policies or practices or regulations. Collect and analyze environmental compliance data and prepare performance metrics reports.
Contributes to local or regional Incident Review Teams in the event of a reported safety or environmental incident. Investigates or arranges for all accidents and near misses to be investigated. Prepares report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.
Delivers regulatory required training related to health, environmental, and safety.
Submits safety/environmental reports (as needed), injury and vehicle reports, incident review team reports, safety committee minutes, 'How's My Driving' reports, OSHA/EPA/State/Local reports and any applicable security reports.
Consults, analyzes, and recommends safe work methods and environmental compliance procedures to management relative to current and new programs and business.
Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position is 40% Environmental / 35% Health / 20% Safety / 5% Industrial Hygiene
Bachelor's degree related to environmental health and safety, business administration, organizational development, or related discipline is preferred or 5-7 years of EHS experience.
Possesses the knowledge and application of environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as, familiarity with EHS regulatory agencies' protocols.
Skilled in performing safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, NFPA, MUTCD, and EPA standards
Must be able to perform inspections of warehouses, head ends, roadside work sites, call centers, and vehicles that involve walking throughout the work areas and climbing steps.
Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills. Ability to address and solve EHS issues from a universal perspective.
Must be able to coach, teach, counsel, and be comfortable speaking to groups.
Must be able to work independently without day-to-day supervision.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel; knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols and/or procedures.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions; ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
Must be an independent self-motivated individual who has the ability to work on various projects, at varying degrees of progress with accompanying stress.
Travel 60% within assigned territory; up to 5% outside assigned territory
