The Compliance and OBD Engineer works under the general direction of the OBD and Compliance Manager and is expected to assist him in other function-related areas.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Witness Testing: Support and participation in EPA Confirmatory and Surveillance Testing as well as other investigative testing from US or CA authorities.
In-Use Verification: Serve as backup Engineer for the project manager of the In-Use Verification Program.
Liaison: Maintain a good working relationship between Environmental Engineering US, Development Drivetrain, Development Hybrid, BMW Steyr, BMW Motorsport and EPA.
Meetings: Coordination and facilitation of in person meeting as well as phone conferences with EPA including presenting subjects. Negotiate with EPA and communicate results within BMW and follow up with EPA if needed.
Fuel Economy and Emissions Testing Regulation: Develop and maintain a working knowledge of federal and California regulations for light duty vehicles and motorcycles.
Networking: Participate in technical and regulatory industry working groups, maintain close contacts with internal and external business partners.
Technology: Stay on top of technological development concerning vehicles and develop expertise about engine control and hybrid systems.

Qualifications and experience
Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automotive, Mechanical)
Experience in Certification, Compliance and vehicle architecture is preferred.
Basic hands-on vehicle experience is required.
Knowledge about BMW vehicle system architecture, BMW Hybrid Systems and OBD Systems is preferred.
