Golder has a new opportunity for an Environmental Scientist to join our Mt. Laurel, NJ office on a full-time basis.  This entry-level position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced team that provides solutions on environmental projects.  The work entails a variety of office-related and outdoor “hands-on” activities, with a need to carefully follow instructions, document activities, and at times requires problem solving and proactive communication.

 

Responsibilities of the role will include:

Working with an environmental team to support remediation and environmental projects in the Mt. Laurel office, with the ability to advance in your career within the company. The duties include:

  • Collecting environmental samples in compliance with State and Federal requirements (e.g., soil, groundwater, soil gas)
  • Communication, coordination, and/or oversight of subcontractors (e.g., laboratories, drillers)
  • Accurately documenting field activities (e.g., field forms, field notebooks, daily reports)
  • Engaging in a team environment, working closely with Project Managers and co-workers to complete work programs and communicate site conditions, observations, and activities
  • Compiling field and analytical data
  • Contributing to environmental monitoring and technical reports
  • Handling equipment, including maintenance, calibration to operational and regulatory requirements, and ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
  • Safely performing work, both in the field and office
  • Operating field vehicles safely on behalf of the company
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions
  • Ability to complete field events at least 50% of working hours, as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of schedule for out-of-town project opportunities, including periods of more than five days
  • Ability to work on weekends and holidays, as needed 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science or geoscience-related field required
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (as applicable), is required for site work, preferential consideration for candidates with this training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable
  • Strong attention to detail; accuracy is essential
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Understanding of the importance of health & safety as a top priority and an enthusiasm to participate in Golder’s associated programs
