Become an Educator for a More Equitable and Sustainable Future

The IslandWood Graduate Program in Education for Environment & Community is a 10-month immersive teaching residency based on a 250-acre forested campus preparing culturally responsive educators capable of catalyzing community and environmental stewardship. 

Offered in partnership with the University of Washington's top-ranked College of Education, our graduate program is a unique pathway connecting to Master's degree options at the UW.  

Through coursework in environmental education and inclusive instruction, biweekly field-teaching experiences, and 1:1 mentoring, you will - 

  • learn best practices in integrated, experiential, and student-centered learning
  • develop culturally responsive teaching and curriculum development skills
  • deepen an understanding of the systems and theories behind educational practices

We are still accepting applications for the 2019-2020 academic year!

A monthly stipend is available to all enrolled students.  Scholarships and service awards up to $10,000 are also available for qualified applicants.
