Job Summary

The Transportation Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Planner for immediate employment in the Atlanta, GA office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential.

  • This NEPA Environmental Planner position will support the multi-discipline environmental group in transportation. This candidate will perform tasks ranging from research, writing, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping among other duties.

  • Gathers data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports

  • Compiles and organizes environmental data collected by others. Works with those who collect the data to understand and interpret data into reporting.

  • Provide support which includes tracking NEPA and other environmental efforts

  • Prepares reports for internal and external audiences.

  • Prepares basic data and scientific documents to include maps/figures, technical reports, agency coordination, NEPA documents, and permit applications.

  • Works under the supervision of senior staff but is capable of completing all but the most complex tasks with minimal supervision.

  • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, environmental biology, ecology, wildlife management, historic resources, archaeological resources, NEPA, urban planning, water quality) +2 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, and/or related disciplines)

  • Strong technical/scientific writing skills

  • Functional knowledge and use of ArcGIS software

  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NEPA planning/implementation and public outreach, particularly as it relates to Georgia Department of Transportation is a plus
