Terracon is growing and hiring an Environmental Engineering Professional in our Cheyenne, WY office! Our Cheyenne office works on exciting projects including commercial, transportation, energy, oil and gas and Wyoming DEQ related projects. This position is for a professional engineer/geologist who will be responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating all environmental services work, as well as managing a team for projects varying in size and complexity. The successful candidate will be experienced in all phases of environmental consultation including site assessments, investigations, remediations, NEPA, asbestos/lead base paint evaluations, cultural resource and have leadership and management experience. This position requires numerous business development efforts including client development meetings, proposals, reports to support existing clients and project portfolios that serve to expand our service offerings.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices.
  • Senior level Geologist responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques.
  • Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.
  • Assist in establishing and updating current policies/ procedures for technical projects in field of expertise, to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
  • Provide technical direction and training to less experience professional staff.
  • Participate in the client development and marketing strategies efforts for the office.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental engineering or Geology, or related field and a minimum of 5 years' related experience.
  • Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Certification in field of expertise required.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) designation required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
