OVERVIEW

We have been providing environmental consulting services in excess of 25 years, and we employ a team of approximately 100 scientists and engineers who keep abreast of current regulatory issues. 

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Section Manager to lead a section of our Environmental Compliance, Hazardous Materials & Safety Group at our Albany, NY office location. 

This Section Manager will be responsible for the management of largely Colonie, NY based staff that provide multifaceted environmental compliance services to public and private clients throughout New York State and the Northeast Region. The manager will directly report to the Associate Vice President and Technical Leader of the Environmental Compliance, Hazardous Materials, and Safety Technical Group. This individual will be measured on his/her staff’s technical quality, utilization of his/her discipline’s staff across all markets, and adherence to project schedules and budgets. The Section Manager will also be responsible for supporting market focused staff in developing business opportunities, assisting with high level technical advisory regarding environmental compliance needs as well as providing direction and mentoring to technical support staff assigned to him or her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of technical staff; project development and delivery; project management; development of proposals and scope/fee. Additional duties include assuring the appropriate mentoring and training of junior staff, assuring the appropriate blend of staff skill sets are brought to bear on projects, and understanding the impacts of discipline interaction on project development. This role will also be responsible for maintaining a work environment that fosters collaboration, career growth opportunity and good morale.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelors of Science in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science or a closely related degree.
  • Masters of Science in related discipline preferred.
  • P.E. license or other professional certification (CHMM, CIH, API 510/570/653, etc.) preferred.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience required with a focus on a types of environmental compliance projects; however experience in additional environmental specialties is of interest.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with:
    • PBC/CBS Compliance – NYS & Federal
    • Environmental Compliance Auditing
    • EPCRA – Tier II, Form R Reporting
    • SPCC/SPR Plan Development
    • SPDES Permitting and Compliance
    • LOTO Programs
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills required. 
  • Staff management experience; must have ability to mentor, motivate, and manage different levels of technical staff.
  • Must be an articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups.
  • Strong ability to resolve matters that arise within the discipline.
  • Strong experience with project budgeting required. 
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the company’s technical processes and ability to influence continued improvement of such.
  • Valid US driver’s license required.
  • 40 hr. HAZWOPER and OSHA 10 hr. Construction training preferred.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the following preferred:
    • Water Withdrawal Permitting/Engineering Reports
    • Tank Integrity Inspections (CBS)/API certifications
    • Air Permitting/Compliance
