Job Description

The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Responsible Care for its Responsible Care and Value Outreach Department.  ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative. 

The position is responsible for supporting the management and implementation of the Responsible Care® program, the chemical industry’s environment, health, safety and security program. This position will serve as a point of contact for participating companies to support their understanding of and reporting against performance measures, as well as developing, visualizing and interpreting benchmarking and annual metrics reporting surveys. The position will also support the management of the Responsible Care member governance process including supporting the preparation for working and board level meetings and will help coordinate between Responsible Care and complementary industry sustainability initiatives. The position reports directly to the Director, Responsible Care.

Other key duties and responsibilities of the position include managing key assigned areas of the Responsible Care program; leading groups/teams of internal staff and member company representatives for purposes of building consensus relative to the development and implementation of appropriate performance and advocacy strategies; managing the performance reporting program, including data collection system, data analysis and trending, as well as public performance reporting website (e.g., global performance reporting); and managing annual Responsible Care awards and certificates program.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering, business, public policy, or related field; at least 3 years relevant professional experience, experience working in a corporation and/or trade association preferred; experience with data analysis and visualization skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, projects, tasks, and information/requests; excellent written and verbal communication skills;  familiarity with manufacturing industries and environment, health and safety programs preferred and travel domestically and internationally a must.
