Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Metric Environmental, LLC (Metric) is seeking a summer intern to support our Natural Resources division. The candidate will work as an Environmental Scientist Intern and gain experience in field sampling, water resources, ecological surveys, wetland delineations, wetland mitigation planning, waterway permitting, and/or preparing NEPA documentation. Prior knowledge of and experience with the Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers rules and regulations pertaining to water quality assessment and permitting is a plus.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Assisting with the identification and delineation of wetlands
  • Assist with preparation of wetland mitigation plans
  • Preparing waters reports for transportation agencies
  • Assisting in preparation of various environmental reports, permits and regulatory documentation
  • Performing site visits and collecting field data, such as measurements, instrument readings, photographs, etc., for environmental investigations
  • Performing regulatory and technical research as needed to support a project

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Geology, Biology, Botany, or related field or combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted
  • 0-3 years of practical experience in environmental consulting
  • Able to create tables using Microsoft Excel and prepare technical reports using Microsoft Word
  • Experience in ArcGIS a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
