Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to support our team of environmental professionals in our Walnut Creek, CA office. As a Senior Hydrogeologist, your role on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of the project lifecycle. You are responsible for participating in and leading multi- disciplinary groups to successfully and efficiently execute projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support site investigation and characterization through collection of environmental and hydrogeologic data using standard and innovative tools and technologies.

  • Perform quantitative analysis and interpretation of large and complex hydrogeologic data sets.

  • Prepare technical reports and other studies summarizing hydrogeologic analyses and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to prepare reports and documents.

  • Perform analytical and numerical modeling (e.g., pumping tests, groundwater flow, solute transport).

  • Create visual presentations of data and analysis, including time-series plots, cross sections, maps, 3-D visualization, and animation.

  • Technical writing and report preparation

  • Lead the development of work scope, schedule, and budget definition for proposals and projects.

  • Prepare presentations and communicate with client to provide project status updates.

  • Provide supervision, training,technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff.

  • Conduct peer reviews of routine and moderately complex work by colleagues or more junior hydrogeologists.

  • Exemplify Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.

  • Support project work and business development of principal hydrogeologist.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Highly experienced with development of hydrogeological characterizations including well design, groundwater aquifer modeling, characterization, water quality analysis, aquifer test design and analyses, data analyses and technical report writing.

  • Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and task management.

  • Promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training.

  • Advanced skills in technical writing.

  • Sound skills in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public.

  • Leader able to demonstrate value of continuous improvement of technical performance.

  • Champions new ideas and initiatives, and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovation.

  • Maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.

  • Drives collaborative efforts within the region and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other hydrogeologic software (e.g. MODFLOW, PEST, etc.). 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrogeology.

  • Licensed Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG).

  • 10 years of experience as a Hydrogeologist
