Stantec is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to support our team of environmental professionals in our Walnut Creek, CA office. As a Senior Hydrogeologist, your role on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity, and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of the project lifecycle. You are responsible for participating in and leading multi- disciplinary groups to successfully and efficiently execute projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery.
Your Key Responsibilities
Support site investigation and characterization through collection of environmental and hydrogeologic data using standard and innovative tools and technologies.
Perform quantitative analysis and interpretation of large and complex hydrogeologic data sets.
Prepare technical reports and other studies summarizing hydrogeologic analyses and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to prepare reports and documents.
Perform analytical and numerical modeling (e.g., pumping tests, groundwater flow, solute transport).
Create visual presentations of data and analysis, including time-series plots, cross sections, maps, 3-D visualization, and animation.
Technical writing and report preparation
Lead the development of work scope, schedule, and budget definition for proposals and projects.
Prepare presentations and communicate with client to provide project status updates.
Provide supervision, training,technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff.
Conduct peer reviews of routine and moderately complex work by colleagues or more junior hydrogeologists.
Exemplify Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.
Support project work and business development of principal hydrogeologist.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Highly experienced with development of hydrogeological characterizations including well design, groundwater aquifer modeling, characterization, water quality analysis, aquifer test design and analyses, data analyses and technical report writing.
Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and task management.
Promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training.
Advanced skills in technical writing.
Sound skills in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public.
Leader able to demonstrate value of continuous improvement of technical performance.
Champions new ideas and initiatives, and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovation.
Maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships.
Drives collaborative efforts within the region and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other hydrogeologic software (e.g. MODFLOW, PEST, etc.).
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrogeology.
Licensed Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG).
10 years of experience as a Hydrogeologist
