Job Description

Position Description 

The Environmental Scientist / Engineer is responsible for a variety of high level projects critical to ongoing sustainability projects and permitting. Key examples are;

  • Manage greenhouse gas reporting,
  • Support data management necessary for the sustainability report
  • Support research and reports necessary for sustainability indices,
  • Support permitting of existing and new facilities.

Additional job responsibilities include:

  • Develop an understanding of regulations and permit conditions at energy from waste facilities
  • Gain experience in field test programs (air and solid waste).

Position Requirements 

Minimum Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science in relevant engineering (chemical, mechanical, environmental) or science (biology, chemistry, environmental science). 

Experience: 0 – 2 years of experience as an environmental professional. Experience and/or interest in a position with wide range of accountability through projects related to full scale operating facilities. Experience gained in the following areas / topics is considered directly applicable:

  • Combustion and air pollution control technology,
  • Software systems used for environmental and operational data management,
  • Lifecycle analysis and carbon / greenhouse gas emission accounting,
  • Air, water and solid waste regulatory compliance
  • Construction and operating permit development, renewal, and/or on-going compliance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent organizational and time management skills to facilitate working on multiple projects.

• Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills including technical documentation.

• Attitude of ownership, ability to self-start, and carry work through to completion.   

Other Requirements: 

Able to travel to support meetings, field test programs (approx. 10-20%)
