Foth Infrastructure and Environment, LLC is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Assistant Project Manager - Mining, who is looking for new learning experiences, opportunities for career growth, and a desire to contribute to our clients’ success.  This position will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN, Duluth, MN, or Green Bay, WI location. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing mining and other environmental projects by delivering projects within budget, schedule, and contractual commitments
  • Complete technical portions of the work
  • Assist in the coordination of legal or regulatory interaction on behalf of clients
  • Assemble project teams and monitor project performance while mentoring, coaching, establishing objectives, and providing performance feedback for team members
  • Assist in strategic planning, development, and deployment of projects
  • Provide input to scope change orders with clients and subcontractors
  • Develop relationships with clients which will lead to repeat business
  • Participate in business development activities and proposal preparation
  • Follow Foth’s standard project management processes
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understand and respond to overall trends, challenges and concerns with mining and other environmental projects
  • Assist in preparing subcontractor agreements for work to satisfy client requirements
  • Research various mining-related issues and provide viable solutions to those issues

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or applicable technical discipline
  • 5 years of experience working with mining projects of varying size and scope
  • Previous experience with:
    • Project scheduling and budget management
    • Federal, state, and local permitting 
    • Engineering and scientific applications to support a wide range of mining support functions
    • Monitoring, sampling, and compliance reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working in the consulting engineering industry
  • Professional registration or certification in project management
  • Current MSHA certification
  • Civil or geotechnical engineering background and experience
  • Construction management capabilities
  • Ability to scope and assemble teams, of internal and external staff, to provide project deliverables
    • NEPA
    • Impacts analysis to water resources
    • Earthwork and related construction associated with mine construction and operations
    • Financial assurance calculations
