All positions may not be filled or they may be filled at different times depending on budget, hiring needs, and requirements. These positions are temporary and are expected to last approximately 6 months. These positions have no promotion potential.
NOTE: These are not Law Enforcement positions.
Park Rangers support the BLM park and recreation programs. They work with the public to provide information and guidance. Duties may include but are not limited to; participating in evaluating visitor use patterns, preparing and maintaining recreation sites, and monitoring conditions of sites and natural and cultural resource. Park Rangers may develop and conduct interpretive hikes, walks, talks, and demonstrations to a variety if age groups. They conduct patrols, safety inspections, and respond to emergency situations.
Work is mostly performed outdoors in all types of weather on rugged terrain to include; steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces. Position requires physical exertion such as, but not limited to,driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain, standing for long periods of time, bending, digging, hiking, lifting, or similar activities. Duties may require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads. Work may involve early morning hours, daytime hours, or night hours, and may require working holidays.
