Biology Technicians (Wildlife) perform any or all of the following or similar duties: Performs the full range of standardized support duties and limited technical duties in support of wildlife programs. a. Makes observations and records data relating to wildlife studies through the use of prepared outlines. Inventories water, winter ranges, upland game bird habitat, habitats, etc., following guidelines furnished. Participates in banding, tagging and releasing ducks, antelopes, deer, or other wildlife in connection with wildlife studies. Performs vegetative work in wildlife habitat and water fowl areas such as planting bulbs, brush and seeds. Enters and retrieves data from automated databases. To perform duties of this position requires the use of motor vehicles. In most cases this will be a 4-wheel drive vehicle or ATV.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: The work is performed outdoors in rugged terrain; to include steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; positions require physical exertions, such as, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and similar activities. Individuals should be capable of working alone, or with other people, during early morning hours, night, or during the day.
