Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Senior - Level Hydrogeologist or Geologist to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This individual will be responsible for supporting Geologic, Remediation, & Hydrogeologic specific business opportunities & managing projects & junior staff & managing existing & new projects. Key Responsibilities 

  • Work with our robust group of Geologists, Hydrogeologists, Remediation Engineers, Environmental Technicians, Civil Engineers, & Geotechnical Technicians on complex geologic / hydrogeological investigations
  • Manage field staff & projects
  • Provide technical expertise & support on hydrogeologic & environmental investigations
  • Prepare & review highly technical reports
  • Evaluate technical data & / or delegate to junior staff
  • Manage large - scale Remedial Investigations (RI) & Feasibility Studies (FS)
  • Interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, & environmental data
  • Mentor & supervise mid - level & junior Geologists & Hydrogeologists
  • Coordinate with project management teams & other discipline leads to manage project deliverables, ensuring schedule & budget are achieved
  • Identify & develop new business opportunities in the field of geology, hydrogeology, & environmental remediation, & support the technical component of business development materials
  • When required, work collaboratively with other departments, environmental regulators & other Wood offices on project related work
  • Oversee & conduct a wide variety of hydrogeological assessments & groundwater resource development projects which may involve: water rights transfers & applications, litigation support, groundwater sustainability, & production & injection well design & installation / testing oversight
  • Participate in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards & Guidelines in the execution of all work

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering or other related discipline
  • 8+ years relevant experience (preferably with hydrologic investigations in Arizona & the Southwestern United States)
  • Knowledge of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, & Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) & the processes for site investigations, remedial alternative studies, & work plan implementations
  • Understanding of & experience with remediating sites in the Arizona Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Program as it pertains to sites contaminated with chlorinated solvents, metals & free product (LNAPL & DNAPL)
  • An Arizona Registered Professional Geologist (PG) or able to obtain a PG within 2 years
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including budget, schedule & deliverable performance
  • Demonstrated experience writing successful proposals, work plans & conducting business development is mandatory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Earth materials, structures & processes, including degree coursework in sedimentology, stratigraphy, & structural geology
  • Demonstrated experience conducting hydrogeologic analyses, including development of geologic cross - sections, groundwater gradient calculations, groundwater flow diagrams, groundwater flow assessments, & fate & transport modeling
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills with technical writing experience
  • Soil & groundwater investigation & sampling experience
  • In - depth knowledge of drilling & well construction techniques
  • In - depth knowledge of aquifer testing
  • In - depth knowledge of common techniques for interpretation of hydrogeologic & geochemical data
  • Hands - on experience using groundwater, soil & air field testing & sampling equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Must pass drug test, background check & must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Additional Qualifications (Preferred but not Required)

  • Proficiency with ARC - GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, & Access, VISUAL MODFLOW, MODFLOW - SURFACT, Groundwater Vistas
  • Experience with water rights transfers & applications, & litigation support
  • Experience with mine & coal fired power dewatering & plant, & coal combustion residual (CCR)
