In this role you will lead and manage pursuits and projects in the Pacific Northwest, develop and maintain client relationships, and provide oversight on assignments. You will be expected to act independently on planning and technical matters pertaining to specialized areas, as well as direct the work of scientists and engineers to achieve project goals and meet client expectations. You are encouraged to engage and participate in workgroups that align with your interests, including our national One Water Team.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop project approaches to meet specific goals and objectives including the preparation of detailed scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Manage multidisciplinary planning projects to achieve client goals within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Provide consultation in specialized technical areas related to integrated planning; for example, green infrastructure, alternative water resources, modeling and statistical analyses, asset management, scenario planning, or implementing multi-benefit projects
  • Direct the preparation and completion of comprehensive planning reports and presentations
  • Prepare and make presentations for professional meetings with clients and technical teams
  • Support and lead business development endeavors such as client outreach, proposal writing, and interviews
  • Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve quality and efficiency
  • Supervise, delegate, direct, coach and mentor junior technical staff

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • M.S. or B.S. degree in planning, engineering or related science with a minimum of 10 years of related experience with utilities or in the water sector
  • Experience in marketing and managing water related work for municipal clients
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong supervisory, management and leadership skills are a plus
  • Professional planning or engineering license is a plus
  • Proven track record of effective management of key clients and projects
  • Proven ability to provide effective mentoring and development of less experienced staff
