Job Description

Job Summary

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.

  • Degree in science or related field required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science with an environmental focus or a related environmental degree from an accredited university

  • 0-2 years of experience in environmental and scientific/engineering related industry

  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations such as ASTM-1527-13, AAI, Ohio VAP, RCRA, BUSTR, TSCA, and SARA

  • Must be willing to accept occasional short and long term field assignments

  • Must have a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate or an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course certification is preferred. Candidates without current certification or without prior 40-hr training will be required to attend (and receive certification) immediately upon hire.

  • Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist certification and an Asbestos Hazard Abatement Specialist certification are preferred. Candidates without current certifications may be required to obtain both certifications upon hire.

  • Lead Risk Assessor certification is preferred. Candidates without current certification may be required to obtain certification upon hire.

  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner

  • Candidate is expected to possess solid technical and problem solving skills

  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) is mandatory

  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample requested)
