Position Description:
We are currently seeking an Environmental Specialist VI. The Environmental Specialist IV provides environmental services to universities, life sciences and other re-search & development customers. The ESIV will lead team members on complex lab pack jobs and cylinder projects by leading segregation efforts, and directing team members on appropriate packaging. This position is also responsible for ensuring accurate preparation of all appropriate and required documentation to meet State, DOT and EPA regulations.

Essential Duties: Coordinates team activities in the morning such as loading the truck with supplies, PPE and required paperwork. Provides lab pack services to technical customers, including segregation of chemicals, characterization of unknowns and proper packaging according to EPA, DOT and TSDF restrictions. Responsible for communication with customer on tasks to be performed, managing the team to accomplish those tasks and identifying any scope changes to the customer and account management team. Responsible for ensuring the safety of the team members and the compliance of services provided to customer. Perform other projects as required by customers, including inventory support, lab moves, on-site services, high-hazard support, etc. Provide training and support for customers on processes, findings and regulatory compliance. Performs other related duties as required or requested. Responsibilities: Contact with all levels of Customers on a daily basis. Regular contact with many different levels of Stericycle personnel. Responsible for proper packaging of material to meet criteria and stay within budget of quoted projects. This position may work completely independently on some jobs, but will often provide technical and work direction to less experienced team members. This person is first and foremost a lab pack trained chemist capable of on-site waste characterization, packing and generation of all required documents that happens to drive a truck, but is not just a truck driver who only picks up hazardous waste.

Position Requirements:
Education equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent in related work experience, five or more years of industry related experience as a lab pack chemist. Must be willing to accept ownership of controlled pharmaceuticals on behalf of Stericycle. Must possess a valid driver’s license and credit resources to rent a car. Must be qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle rated at 26,001 pounds or greater (CDL B). Demonstrates a high-level knowledge of RCRA and DOT Regulations as it relates to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste. Understanding the proper handling of DEA materials is required. Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including spreadsheets and word processing. Master the English language both verbal and written. Demonstrates the ability to identify and understand customer needs; takes appropriate actions to ensure customer needs are met and proactively searches of ways to increase customer satisfaction. Must be able to work efficiently and independently as well as have the ability to direct other team members to complete the larger project. Demonstrates the ability to persist with a specific course of action. Must be willing to commit the necessary time and effort to complete work assignments and do a quality job. Demonstrates the ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise, organized and diplomatic manner; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas and questions. Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and ability to review work for accuracy. Demonstrates ability to manage own time and schedule to get work accomplished and meet customer needs. Demonstrates strong networking and proven relationship building skills and proven customer relationship development skills.
