Part-Time Variable Hours, Weekdays and Occasional Weekends (20 hours/week) Apply immediately
$20.00 - $23.64 per hour depending on experience

Examples of Duties

Part-time temporary Seasonal Aide in Water, Environmental and Sustainability needed to assist the Water, Environmental and Sustainability Division within the Public Works Department.  Position will be assigned to work in both the Storm Water program and the Water Quality program. This position's duties include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Assisting with outfall inspections, creek sampling, and other related fieldwork;
  • Compile and prepare information for mandated reports for various agencies on storm water quality compliance;
  • Develop outreach materials and table outreach events;
  • Provide administrative and promotional support for the various programs;
  • Clean laboratory glassware;
  • Clean, organize and maintain laboratory space;
  • Log in and stock laboratory supplies;
  • Assist in wastewater sampling.

Typical Qualifications

Desired qualifications:

  • Related coursework in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering or Geology; or
  • Understand federal, state and local environmental regulations;
  • Fieldwork experience (sampling or creek work);
  • Proficient in graphics design software such as Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Illustrator   Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; 

Must be able interact with the public both in person and over the phone in a positive and professional manner, provide exceptional customer service, and establish effective working relationships.  Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail and follow through on assigned administrative tasks. Computer skills with data entry, graphics design software and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also required. Must be able to occasionally lift 25 pounds. This position reports to an Environmental Program Manager, as assigned. This position works in the office and in the field and must be able to work in both office and outside environments.
