THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The individual in this position assists in the control of diseases and insects affecting plant industries; conducts tree inventory and plant pest surveys.  Assists in the development, implementation and reporting plant pest control projects.  Establishes monitoring sites, deploys traps, inspects and maintains traps. Acts as lead worker with Forest Insect Pest Aide 1 when performing property assessments for control work.  Attends meetings for committees, task forces and program meetings assigned by Supervisor.  Represent the Commonwealth, PDA, or Bureau of Plant Industry at town hall meetings or environmental events,  Prepares a variety of reports and records.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • PA residency currently waived for this title
  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - An associate's degree in
    forest technology;  OR completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
  • Certain positions require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
