POSITION PROFILE:
 
This rewarding position serves as the professional office assistant for the Forest Practices program. Reporting to the Assistant Division Manager for Business Administration, this position ensures daily operational functions are effectively and efficiently carried out.

This post independently performs a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments such as preparing reports, preparing, reviewing, verifying and processing fiscal documents and/or financial records. This professional office assistant is responsible for composing office correspondence such as hire letters, and responses to requests for information, establishing electronic recordkeeping/filing systems and/or database files, and responding to inquiries requiring substantive knowledge of office/departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND two years of experience in office, clerical or general administrative work.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and process bills, arrange travel for staff, and complete reimbursements.
  • Ability to maintain and track database systems used for payroll and inventory purposes.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook with calendar).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently in planning, organizing, and prioritizing work. 

 
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience with public disclosure requests and processes.
  • Work experience in maintaining tracking logs for assigned vehicles, purchasing card and equipment inventory. 
  • Work experience drafting meeting notes or minutes; or drafting professional correspondence for management.
  • Three years of clerical/technical work experience in a natural resource environment or;
  • College level work in forestry or natural resources may substitute year-for-year for experience.
