The internship positions within the Environmental Services Department will provide mentoring and practical hands on experience in a corporate setting with potential travel opportunities off campus to visit power plants, solar energy centers, transmission lines and substation proposed sites or facilities under construction and/or in operation; there will also be participation in team meetings, and volunteer events. The positions offer work on challenging projects and assignments as well as exposure to multiple business unit activities, corporate leadership, and culture.
Key areas of responsibility within the Department which may require intern support include:
managing emerging federal and state legislative and regulatory developments that may have the potential to affect NextEra Energy activities.
To be considered for this position the applicants must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree in an environmentally related discipline with an emphasis in environmental sciences including (but not limited to) environmental policy, management, sustainability, hydrology, biology or related engineering fields. Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Ideal candidates will have finished freshman or sophomore year and have an interest in pursuing a career in the utility sector.
Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Employees in the role will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in the student’s area of study or specialization. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. Candidate must also have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
