Job Description

Alstom is a worldwide supplier of complete railway signaling solutions, currently working on major contracts in Denmark. The Signaling Programme in Denmark involves the renewal of over 500 trains, including passenger, freight and work trains, with the ERTMS technology, as well as, the deployment of the trackside ERTMS level 2 technology on 9 lines over 600km of track in Sjælland and Fyn. The trackside project includes all signalling subsystems from Traffic Management System to Trackside Products.

EHS Manager 

Alstom Transport Danmark A/S is looking for a committed EHS Manager to support the Danish organization and be responsible for all environmental, health & safety processes and issues in the Danish organization.

The role as EHS-Manager at Alstom Transport Denmark A/S involves strategic and operational work, so that the organization has tools and methods/routines (legal, contract- and company conditions) to fulfil internal and external demands. The role includes issues related to the working environment including railway safety and environment. An exciting position in an international company, where you will have the influence in driving environmental, health & safety issues. You will report to the Managing Director of Alstom Transport Danmark A/S and be part of the Management team.

To thrive in the role as EHS Manager at Alstom, it is important to have good communication and collaboration skills and solid knowledge of EHS tasks. You also thrive in an international environment and deadlines can often be tight. In addition, we are looking for a person who is disciplined and structured and has a result-oriented focus. Experience with deliveries within the railway business will be an advantage. 

Main tasks 

  • Deploy EHS objectives, initiate and develop programs in line with Transport Strategy.
  • Ensure that the EHS Management System is in line with Alstom EHS processes, country legal requirements and international standards.
  • Work as an internal advisor and support to other departments and functions in EHS questions.
  • Provide risk analysis and suggest mitigation on the basis of activity description given by the various managers.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and contribute that deviations, remarks and observations are attended to
  • Deliver EHS documentation to authorities, social partners, customers and internal partners.
  • Prepare and deliver annual EHS strategy, project plans & training programs.
  • Visits regularly to project sites and offices to identify EHS risks and issues.
  • Conduct near misses reporting.
  • Initiate and coordinate EHS education in coordination with managers.
  • EHS surveys. 


  • Substantial experience with managing EHS processes and issues.
  • You can demonstrate the ability to develop, manage and drive EHS programs in an international environment.
  • You have the ability to work effectively under pressure, to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate staff (currently two employees and a student worker).
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate complex EHS information in an understandable manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Fluent in Danish and English.
  • Valid driver’s license as you have to anticipate driving to our different sites in Denmark on a regular basis.
