The Boeing Company is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Vandenberg AFB, California.

The role and responsibilities of the Environment Health and Safety Specialist, but are not limited to: reviews Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements. Maintains and analyzes basic records and provides reports on compliance performance to internal customers. Supports customers on EHS processes, programs, issues and requirements. Analyzes records and provides reports on compliance performance to customers. Performs annual inspections, investigates incidents and provides corrective action to prevent re-occurrence of incidents. Provides guidance and responds to requests from customers based on EHS policies and procedures. Documents and resolves hazards with customer involvement to minimize risks. Collects data and performs sampling to support EHS compliance. Supports development, Implementation and monitoring of occupational health and safety programs and processes in accordance with US DOD, Company, and Program requirements. Provides training and instructions as required for EHS related topics. Supports evaluation of impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to site operations and provides feedback to EHS lead. Supports EHS corrective action plans to respond to internal/external audits and inspections. Provides EHS operational support for missile assembly and launch operations. Collects data or performs sampling to support environmental, health and safety compliance. Assists with conducting compliance reviews of local internal processes and practices. Responsible for EHS records management and site EHS program continuity books. Maintains the site Office and Shop Ergonomic programs and conducts ergonomics evaluations as needed.

****Ability to relocate permanently to California is required.****

Job is located at Vandenberg AFB, CA. This position supports a 24/7 operation. Over time, on-call rotation, and call backs to support work requests will be required after normal working hours, on holidays, and weekends. Required to support Boeing Team at other locations and be available for off-site training. Travel required. The Ground-based Midcourse Defense system is operationally capable to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. This position requires the individual to perform work tasks in an operational missile defense complex or at operational interceptor launch facilities where system assets are subject to war fighter deployment. An operational missile field or an operational interceptor launch facility have significant inherent health and safety risks and individuals are required to train, understand, and observe extensive safety and process controls to help protect persons and equipment.

Qualifications 
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in Environmental Healthy & Safety.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience conducting EHS audits, inspections, investigations and coordinating resolution of issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ordnance experience
  • Experience with MIL Standard 822 and DoD 4145 regulations

Typical Education:
Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
