Stantec is currently seeking an Environmental Analyst in the Impact Assessment, Permitting, and Compliance Practice to be based out of our Thousand Oaks Office. The work is expected to be primarily office-based but could include some periodic field work and regional travel. Job responsibilities focused on preparing environmental impact analyses, related technical studies and discretionary permit application packages. This position offers the selected individual the ability to apply their technical experience to exciting projects in Southern California as well as professional development opportunities within an established and rapidly growing consulting organization.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Analyst is responsible for overseeing research, fieldwork, impacts analysis, permit assessment, and report preparation. This position is responsible for the following tasks.
Preparation of environmental constraints analyses.
Prepare sections of CEQA/NEPA documents and supporting technical studies.
Prepare and file public notices including but not limited to Notices of Preparation, Availability, Completion, Intent to Adopt, and Determination. - Prepare for and support public/stakeholder meetings.
Prepare responses to comments received during public environmental review.
Prepare project permit applications to various federal, state, and local agencies.
Compile and manage files for large, complex deliverables.
Participation in client and/or agency project meetings.
Site visits and participation in field data collection.
Assist in preparing proposals.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experienced California Environmental Quality Act practitioner. National Environmental Policy Act experience is also preferred. Ability to prepare sections for multiple resource categories. Experience with technical areas such as air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, noise and/or traffic and circulation desired. Specialties in other categories valued.
Experience preparing discretionary permit applications to federal, state and/or local agencies. Knowledge of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, California Department of Fish and Game Code, Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, California Coastal Act and municipal zoning.
Periodic short-term, regional travel expectations.
Experience working with a diverse set of project types including energy, transportation, environmental infrastructure, and community development land uses.
Well-organized with strong electronic administration skills.
Self-motivated, have excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills.
OSHA Hazwoper 40 certification required or ability to obtain prior to employment.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Prior to employment this position will require the successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting, working with a diverse set of client types.
