DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Under the general direction provided by the Environmental Group Manager of the Data Management Section, this technical position is responsible for supporting the statewide Clean Water Program and assisting in the fulfillment of the Department's obligations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Chesapeake Bay Program. The employee in this position maintains accurate records of permit and compliance actions in the Federal Integrated Compliance Information System (ICIS-NPDES) as a requirement of the State's Section 106 operational grant. ICIS-NPDES is a national computerized information management system that enables EPA and State staff to manage and monitor the Federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program. The position requires a thorough knowledge of the NPDES program, the State Clean Streams Law (CSL), the Bureau's permitting and enforcement programs, as well as the computer systems used to support those programs. The position's highest priority is the management and reporting of point source data within Pennsylvania's portion of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Must meet PA residency requirement
  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience
  •  Condition of Employment - certain positions in this job will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
