Educate members of the community and employees in order to encourage behavior change, promote savings and achieve sustainability goals. Support sustainability policies and programs through education and engagement. Serve as a resource for county and community partners on areas of subject matter expertise.
Special Note: This position works where children regularly congregate and in accordance with Florida Statues applicants must pass criminal sexual predator and sexual offender check background check. Successful applicants will also be subject to local/state and FBI background checks (including fingerprinting).
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) year degree with three (3) years of related experience - OR - A Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or a highly related field - OR - Five (5) years professional related experience. A valid Driver’s License is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Four (4) years of experience in sustainability or related outreach and education, networking facilitation, event planning and coordination, and policy analysis is preferred. Sustainability-related accreditation preferred, such as LEED GA, LEED AP or International Society of Sustainability Professionals Certificate. Demonstrated understanding of and connections to the network of sustainability professionals and advocates in Sarasota County preferred.
