Tetra Tech is seeking an environmental engineering or environmental science intern to learn the general principles of environmental consulting and develop skills related to their program of study. This position is located in their Chicago, IL office.
Only candidates who live within a commuting distance of Chicago will be considered. The intern will work approximately 12 or more hours per week during the school year and will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of areas in environmental consulting including environmental engineering, natural resource management, disaster management planning, and hazardous waste management. Full-time work during the summer months may also be possible. Specific tasks would include data management and organization, data analysis, and report writing and compilation. At the end of the internship, the intern is expected to present his/her internship experience to the office.
Good interpersonal skills, strong technical writing skills, spoken and written fluency in English, Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet software, and databases preferred. Qualified candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate environmental science or civil/environmental engineering program. 40-Hour OSHA training a plus. Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment will be required. Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work. Candidate may be exposed to various weather conditions while performing field work outside.
