Job Description:

Cardno is seeking a NEPA/CEQA Consultant to support our Northern California Practice

The ideal candidate will have prior experience providing Project and Client Management within the technical service offerings of Cardno, especially focusing on CEQA and NEPA projects (energy sector preferred). Other areas of interest include: water/water quality, wetland delineation and/or mitigation, permitting (including agency coordination), due diligence, impact assessments, NEPA, listed species etc. Types of projects may include but are not limited to: Electrical transmission, generation (thermal/hydro/solar/wind) and storage; residential and commercial permitting, water resources, roadway, natural gas pipelines, and other energy related projects. In addition, this candidate will be responsible for developing new work, making successful hand-offs to project teams, and sponsoring individual projects while managing programs and portfolios of work. The successful candidate will be responsible for project setup, delivery, controls as well as serve in a business development/client satisfaction function when the need arises.

The successful candidate will have strong connections and recognized experience in the energy, residential, commercial industries within Northern California. In addition, an understanding of the informational requirements of key permits at the local, state, national level (e.g. NEPA, CEQA, ESA, CWA, etc.) is essential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Independently lead and prepare CEQA/NEPA documents Provide planning support to complex projects
> Responsible for project setup, project delivery, project controls, business development, client satisfaction, and profitability
> Mentor junior staff
> Develop and manage client relationships locally and in Northern California
> Initiate, prepare and review proposals
> Prepare project deliverables and project related correspondence


> Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science or closely related field required
> Experience in managing and providing environmental consulting services to project developers in support of project siting, design, and permit applications is essential
> Local, state, and Federal compliance and permitting experience required
> Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting, preferable Northern California area
> Experience in project management, staff mentoring, and client management
> Strong written and oral communication
