Job Description:

The Land O’Lakes Supply Chain & Operations division provides strategic leadership across the company’s many business units. The team plays a significant role in fueling revenue growth and profitability through operational excellence, quality, process improvement and innovation. WinField Manufacturing consists of the chemical formulation division of Land O’Lakes and includes multiple facilities across the country ranging from small single process facilities to large multi-process facilities. 

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a hands-on solution provider to be part of a team of EHS professionals who develop and direct company-wide EHS policies with respect to protecting the health, safety, and the environment of WinField Manufacturing employees and facilities. This position establishes and implements systems and processes that ensure regulatory compliance and reduce risk at multiple facilities through the implementation of Land O' Lakes EHS standards.  Actively participate in a team of EHS professionals to provide regulatory support 7 chemical formulation and distribution facilities nationwide as part of the Land O'Lakes Corporate EHS Department. The facilities range from small single process facilities to large campus style multi-process facilities. Products manufactured range from non-toxic micro nutrients and fertilizers to highly hazardous and reactive chemicals.

-Explain and evaluate regulatory requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, DHS) as they apply to individual Division facilities

-Manage auditing program against regulatory requirements

-Manage corrective action plans to close compliance gaps

-Provide technical support on regulatory requirements. Identify and prioritize environment and safety risks

-Support capital process to engineer out risks when possible

-Assist facilities to develop standard operating procedures for risks that cannot be engineered out

-Provide core EHS competencies at locations which do not have dedicated EHS personnel by developing forms, checklists, and other tools for use by the location

-Support EHS Coordinators at locations which do have dedicated EHS personnel

-Responsible for applying EHS Standards as they relate to the Division

-Identify processes to ensure EHS best practices are formalized and standardized across the Division as appropriate

-Assists location safety staff and works directly with Engineering/Operations/Corp EHS/HR and others on leading safety/risk reduction initiatives

-Function as the company Subject Matter Expert for assigned topics 

Experience – Education Required:

-Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; Science, Engineering or related technical field

-Minimum of 5 years’ experience with large plant EHS programs and managing multiple facility technical programs

-Chemical manufacturing experience is highly preferred

-Seeking strong technical Safety/Environmental background

-OSHA fluency required; experience in safety regulatory environments desired

-History of producing results with progressive responsibility managing programs and people

Competencies-Skills Required:

-Strong coaching, influencing and communication skills

-Solid computer skills including MS Office products

-Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations with the ability to understand state regulations where plant sites are situated

-A self-starter and strong team player who can successfully navigate the organization to reach the agreed upon business goals

-Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence across cross-functional teams and to work effectively with business and technology leaders

-Strong problem-solving skills, good hands-on skills, self-motivated and results-oriented

-Experience and career history with "Fortune 500" type companies strongly desired 

 

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:

Master's degree is preferred Professional certifications preferred include certified safety professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Professional Engineer. 

Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 40%
