Environmental Management Specialists, Inc. (EMS) is a professional environmental contractor specializing in environmental cleanup and site remediation, emergency spill response, waste and industrial services, demolition, tank removal and installation and environmental construction. We provide these services with our experienced and highly qualified project managers, technicians and equipment operators to a wide variety of customers, including environmental consultants, energy companies, industrial facilities, commercial property owners/developers, general contractors, public entities and other environmental service companies. 

Emergency Response Technician

Join the EMS Team!  This  is a part time, on call, position, arranged around the applicant's current schedule and employment. 

The qualified candidate ideally will have experience performing semi-skilled manual labor related to emergency response, environmental clean up, and/or hazardous waste.  Work will be closely supervised with specific work instructions at the beginning of each day.  However, ER responders must be able to work independently after receiving instructions and duties.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Understand the value of safety in all we do for themselves, coworkers, and any other individuals at a work site.
  • Be able to function in the hot summer environment, cold winter environment, bend, walk and stand on feet for extended periods
  • Understand the value of teamwork and communication
  • Understand this is an on call position.  we have the flexibility to match your availability. 
  • Perform routine laboring tasks such as keeping the jobsite clean and free of debris
  • Pass pre-employment and random drug screens

Experience, Education, Certification:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one to two years related experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • OSHA 40-hour HazWoper and SafeLand certifications preferred
