Job Description

JOB SUMMARY 

The Environmental Technician is a developmental position that supports the project team by conducting environmental evaluations, assisting in the production of environmental related reports, and performing other tasks related to the position.  In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Conduct field surveys for clients.
  • Assist in permitting compliance.
  • Assist in assembling field supplies and obtain sampling containers and related equipment. 
  • Assist in conducting field work by collecting samples and field measurements in accordance with project scope of work.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly reporting to various agencies.
  • Help maintain a safe work environment by complying with Atwell and/or site-specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status in order to meet designated chargeability goals.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • 40 Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training.

EXPERIENCE 

  • One (1) year of experience or relative internship experience preferred.
  • Technical writing experience is needed. 

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY 

  • Has relatively little authority to act independently, but has considerable responsibility to work with Environmental Staff, Team Leaders and Project Managers. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, fax machines, etc.
  • Typically operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other office staff.
  • Sometimes works in outside weather conditions.
  • Must be able to walk and move around at job sites.
  • The person in this position must be able to kneel, crouch, or stoop to be able to position self to see different areas at job sites. May also sometimes be required to climb a ladder.
