Job Description

START & END DATE: September 2018- April 2019


This is an internship position, meaning employee’s time will be divided between all the sections at the park: Maintenance, Park Ranger, Visitor Services, and Interpretive/Education Programs. Interns will be commissioned as unarmed law enforcement officers position (Title 33 Park Rangers). Park Rangers enforce park laws and regulations; issues citations for violations; patrols park areas by motor vehicle, OffHighway Vehicle (OHV), snowmobiles and/or foot. Park Rangers will respond to emergencies and resolves visitor complaints. Park Rangers will complete reports and may be required to appear in court. Internship positions will also assist in revenue collection and verification, accounting and deposits, visitor services operations, education and interpretive programs. This position will assist with all areas of daily park operations. Positions assure quality customer service, facility maintenance, and repair and cleanliness. Internship positions also conduct general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including: restrooms, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc. Positions will operates and performs routine maintenance on State owned vehicles and equipment. Position provides information and assistance to visitors. Employees may assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, snow removal, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies. Internship positions will perform other duties as assigned.

The park will provide some uniform items, but employees will be required to purchase other items at their own expense.

Note: This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to eight months in duration. School schedules MAY be accommodated.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges-Consideration will be given to all other previous violations of law, including misdemeanor violations, domestic violence, traffic, and conservation laws
  • Must have or be able to attain First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Must be able to perform physical work in adverse conditions
  • Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Must complete a comprehensive background check Must attend and complete required Park Ranger training
  • Must have ability to work with little supervision
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be willing to learn how to operate equipment (snowplow, tractor, snowmobile, ext…)
