Job Description

We are looking for a Manager with a solid waste background to join our team. This position will lead our Resource Disposal and Recovery Services group. This manager will work closely with other group managers and our executive management team in continuing to innovate to serve our customers needs, grow our business both in depth of service and geographically, as well as ensuring we deliver on the objectives set forth in our Strategic Plan. In addition to directly serving the needs of our clients, this management position entails balancing workload and proper staffing, mentoring and development of staff, ensuring a  high level of client service that exceeds expectations, achieving project management objectives, and implementing and delivering business development goals.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage group staff performance and professional growth and development.
  • Delegate the expectations and responsibilities as appropriate to meet the overall group objectives.
  • Work closely with peers to keep workload balanced and implement cross-functional strategies to ensure the highest customer experience and value.
  • Hiring and maintaining appropriate staff balance to ensure meeting financial goals.
  • Develop team sales, revenue, and utilization goals and manage the resources within the Resource Group to meet set goals.
  • Collaborate with technical staff, business development managers, and other subject matter experts to innovate and set business development and growth strategies and goals.
  • Position the company for regional and national growth in our engineering market and additional Wenck services.
  • Lead, coordinate and delegate proposal efforts, contract execution, administration and project management efforts (experience in Deltek CRM a plus).
  • Execute public outreach, branding efforts, marketing and client communications.
  • Develop and maintain an active client base.
  • Manage multiple projects to include report preparation, developing plan sets, specifications, budgets, schedules.
  • Collaborate with other internal groups and disciplines and sub-consultants.
  • Review and manage professional engineering design and project oversight including Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Travel for multiple days on occasion for meetings and to support project teams in other offices and construction oversight. 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical, Engineering, or other related science dicipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in 1 year (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive civil engineering design experience with an emphasis in solid waste, industrial by products, and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, with the ability to interact with project teams as well as clients, including representing clients during public meetings and events.
  • Knowledge of applicable waste management legislation including environmental assessment requirements and the approvals application process
  • Proven knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
