Versar is seeking self-motivated, team-oriented, Senior Scientists with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to work in our Germantown, MD office.
Primary responsibilities will include directing and/or assisting a team of scientists and engineers in supporting various research programs for Federal regulatory agencies such as EPA and FDA. This position will involve addressing topics related to evaluating exposures and risks associated with toxic chemicals, pesticides, and food safety. Duties will involve coordinating, compiling and analyzing exposure data, developing databases and models, generating quality assurance plans, preparing technical documents, conducting/coordinating government peer reviews and presenting key findings to clients. The successful candidate may also provide direct technical coordination or support for additional projects, as needed, which may include: fate and transport modeling of contaminants, exposure modeling and risk assessment or field related tasks. Occasional travel may be required.
RequirementsCandidates should have 6-10 years of working experience in the field of exposure assessment, environmental science, and/or environmental consulting:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (chemistry, biology, toxicology, or public health). Experience managing projects and proposals for Federal clients (e.g., EPA, FDA) is preferred. Proficiency with MS Office applications and ability to conduct data analysis (including statistical analyses) in Microsoft Excel;
Strong analytical and data management skills;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and capable of obtaining government security clearance and/or Common Access Card (CAC);
Additional experience required includes management of the development and use of databases, models, and other risk assessment and decision analysis tools. These include tools to evaluate fate and transport of contaminants, exposure and hazard/risk assessment of chemicals, and related efforts.
