Health, Safety, Environmental and Security Manager (1802602) – Lima, OH 

BASF is currently seeking an HSE&S Manager at its Lima, Ohio manufacturing facility - Fort Amanda Specialties(FAS). FAS, a joint venture between AkzoNobel and BASF Corp, are a major producer of chelating agents that are used in a broad range of applications. 

Where the Chemistry Happens 

Drive, coordinate, and support EHS programs, management systems, and related sustainability efforts. You will assume the HSE&S Manager’s responsibilities in a relatively brief period and lead a team of EHS professionals to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of BASF’s EHS programs and initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance at the facility. 

Formula for Success

  • As a trusted advisor to site leadership, you will guide site management to develop and ensure implementation of HSE&S policies, year plan and (best) practices for the Joint Venture and be prepared for the HSE agenda 4 years ahead and beyond to achieve top quartile performance

  • Your ability with the development of an HSE&S strategy in line with corporate guidelines of both partners, (business) plans and strategy, to ensure the realization of (strategic) objectives of the site will be critical to the success of this positions and site

  • Along with site management, you will act as change agent for HSE culture and continuous improvement and a role model for ensuring compliance with HSE policies and procedures. You will also have one direct report.

  • As an expert, you will be accountable for site compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations as well as be responsible, design and manage a balanced and coherent health, safety, and environment improvement program and ensure its effective implementation.

  • Leveraging your educational background in Engineering, Science, or a Business-related field, combined with your professional experience, you will monitor key performance indicators and make necessary adjustments to resources and programs to improve performance in EHS

  • Your ability to serve as a liaison for external and internal audits, inspections and agencies is critical. Ensure that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed and adhered to including recordkeeping and reporting requirements

  • You will also review accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the accident; advise departments of trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in reduction of injuries; provide departments with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety.

  • Participate in emergency response plans and activities for the site and emergency response teams

  • You will be relied on to oversee third party security contract workforce and represent Fort Amanda Specialties and the interest of our corporate partners, as needed, at local advocacy activities such as LASER, ACECAC, SING, etc.
