Senior planner focused on leading environmental planning work in our New York office for transportation based projects throughout NY, NJ and CT. This may involve, bridge, highway and rail transit projects. The successful candidate will locally lead environmental planning projects and tasks, including NEPA, SEQR/CEQR, EO215 compliance, while engaging HNTB’s regional and national environmental practitioners and specialists.
The position has a strong focus on marketing and business development, leading environmental planning and permitting compliance, informing project teams on regulatory compliance, stakeholder outreach, and leading, drafting and writing technical documents. May serve as a Project Manager for select projects, will oversee the work of less experienced staff. Direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by other team members.
Develop plans and policies to meet with social economic, and physical needs of communities, including land use transportation planning, transit planning, environmental planning, development, public facilities, and parks and recreational facilities. Directs the technical production of planning assignments and teams. May serve as a Project Manager on a limited basis for select large scale projects. Oversee the work of less experienced staff. Direct, coordinate and review technical work performed by other project team members.
- Experience leading state or federal environmental impact statements, and environmental assessments , preferably in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut

Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Planning, Biology, Ecology, Geology or related field
10 years of related experience
RLA, RA, PE registration or AICP, CEP certification
Master's Degree in Planning or related field
Leed Accredited professional
Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
