Job Description

ICF is currently looking for a Registered Forester/Certified Arborist/Biologist to support projects in our Sacramento Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor tree removal and pruning activities in compliance with CALFIRE 2018 Forest Practice Rules and U.S. Forest Service 2018 Timber Management Policies
  • Conduct construction oversight; including tree removal and pruning
  • Collect and synthesize data in the field
  • Maintain daily logs and photo records
  • Maintain close communication with project manager and co-workers
  • Maintain close communication with client representatives and contractors
  • Work alone or in groups; may direct the work of a small number of individuals in the field
  • File or Update a Timber Harvest Exemption Permit  

Basic Qualifications

  • Registered as a Professional Forester in the state of California through the Board of Forestry and Fire Protection
  • Strong knowledge of California native and ornamental trees; particularly species of the Sierra-Nevada Range and foothills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a forester
  • Experience with performing construction oversight
  • Familiarity with GPS mapping technology and use of iPads for data collection.
  • Willingness to travel and work out-of-town for extended periods of time (e.g., full work week)
  • Ability to walk on uneven and sometimes steep terrain in a variety of landforms

Additional Preferred Skills/Experience

  • ISA Certified Tree Risk Assessment
  • ISA Certified Arborist Utility Specialist
  • ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist
  • BS in Botany, Biology, or Ecology; or related field
  • Construction monitoring experience
  • Experience managing or leading staff for field surveys
